From the beach at Y Felinheli, all rafts head North East towards the bridges. Rafts must then pass under the Britannia Bridge mainland side arch (right hand side) and then pass Ynys Gorad Goch and The Swellie Rock on the raft’s port side (left hand side). Then under the main span of the Menai Suspension Bridge and on to the finish at the end of Menai Bridge Pier.

10.30 The Beach, Y Felinheli - Scrutinising & Registration

All entrants must be present at 09:30 on the beach at Y Felinheli.There will be a temporary one way system force [from the C’fon direction]on the roads approaching the beach. Marshals will be on hand to direct all traffic to and from the area. All teams must appoint a Master of their raft and provide details of all crew members to the Scrutineers. Each crew member must wear a life jacket and comply with the rules and regulations set by the organisers, mainly in the interest of safety. Remember the scrutineers decisionis final, any raft or crew member deemed unsuitable or unsafe will have to be disqualified, so make sure your raft will stay in one piece and float.All participants must collect and wear their safety tally band.

12:30 – Final Briefing

The organisers will give a briefing to all the teams, detailing the order of launching, the route, the procedure at the finish and landing at Porthaethwy and most importantly Heath and Safety requirements.

12:55 – Warning Signal

A warning signal will be sounded and the imminent start announced on Marine Radio to alert other vessels of this ‘Hazard To Shipping’.

13:00 - The Start

All rafts in the first class will launch from the beach and proceed towards Porthaethwy along the route set out above.

From Approx’ 13:40 – The Finish

When landed at Porthaethwy all crew safety tallies must be handed into the tally marshal at the top Menai Bridge Pier. Teams are reminded that they are responsible for the safe landing and removal of their rafts from the beach.
